One of my favorite weddings from last year took me to a quiet little island off the coast of North Carolina — Ocracoke Island. Tucked away in the Outer Banks (OBX), this charming island can only be reached by ferry, making it feel like a true getaway from the rest of the world. It’s small, peaceful, and full of personality.
Claire and Patrick chose this special spot for their destination wedding, and it turned out to be one of the most heartfelt, joy-filled weekends I photographed all year. If you’re dreaming of a North Carolina destination wedding that feels charming, coastal, and just a bit tucked away from the rest of the world, The Berkley Manor might be exactly what you’re looking for.

If you’re dreaming of an Ocracoke wedding venue that feels both classic and coastal, The Berkley Manor is one of the most beloved spots on the island. Since its opening in 2012, it has become a favorite for destination weddings in the area.
The property includes the Manor itself, on-site Berkley Suites for overnight stays, and the Berkley Barn, a bright, open event space with wood-beam ceilings and a stunning chandelier at its center. It’s perfect for both intimate gatherings and larger celebrations, with options for indoor and outdoor ceremony sites. The Barn or Manor can serve as a backup ceremony space in case of rain, so no matter the weather, your day is covered.
You can customize your wedding weekend with lots of à la carte add-ons, like:
It’s flexible, photogenic, and walkable from most of the island’s key spots (ferry terminal, harbor, shops, and restaurants). And because of the layout, it works beautifully for multi-day celebrations — welcome parties, rehearsal dinners, and wedding-day prep all in one place.

The Berkley Manor offers customizable wedding packages designed to fit your guest count and vision. Pricing is based primarily on the number of guests, starting around $1,950 for the venue rental plus $25 per guest (so about $2,575 for 25 guests and $6,325 for 175 guests). The property can accommodate up to 300 guests with special arrangements.
Every package includes 10 hours of venue access (4 hours for prep, 6 for the event), tables and chairs, setup and takedown, and an on-site staff member to help your day run smoothly. There are also plenty of optional add-ons — from coordination and bar service to rehearsal dinners and on-site ceremonies.
Discounts are available for midweek dates, off-season events (Dec–March), and full-week venue + lodging rentals in summer.
Please check with the venue for your own personalized quote and most up-to-date pricing!

Claire and Patrick invited their closest friends and family to celebrate with them at The Berkley Manor, one of the few wedding venues on the island. From the very beginning, it was clear how loved they are. Their families and friends had traveled from all over to celebrate — and there was so much joy in the air. Their wedding weekend kicked off with a warm, laughter-filled rehearsal dinner where friends and family shared stories and toasted to their love.
The next day, their ceremony took place at the Ocracoke United Methodist Church, a quaint chapel right in the heart of the island. After the ceremony, we took portraits around the island, soaking up the perfect weather and glowing coastal light.
The Berkley Barn was the perfect spot for their reception, with wooden walls, bistro lights, and a black-and-white checkered dance floor that came alive as the night went on. There were heartfelt toasts, laughter echoing under the string lights, and the most joyful dance party (yes, even Grandma hit the floor in a pirate hat).
Claire and Patrick are such a sweet couple, and they actually surprised me by including one of my wedding photos on their wall of family/friends’ wedding photos. I felt so honored to have been included on the wall along with photos of their parents’ and grandparents’.

If you’re planning an Outer Banks wedding, especially one with a relaxed, family-centered vibe, Ocracoke Island is such a hidden gem. And The Berkley Manor makes it easy to plan a day that feels like you. Between its quiet charm, walkable downtown, and beautiful waterfront views, it’s the perfect spot for couples who want something unique and meaningful.
And if you’re considering The Berkley Manor as your venue, I’d love to help you document every moment! Inquire here to learn more.
